Welcome to the Elephant class with Miss Foster and the FS0 team. This page is for our parents and children to use together. It includes information about what FS0 are learning, key dates, homework and helpful websites.

Autumn Term

Our topic for Summer 1 is… “People Who Help Us”

Our first topic together is all about people who help us! There are so many people who can help us such as police officers, doctors, superheroes, our Mummy's and Daddy's and many more! We will be learning these different roles and what they do to help people and name who is important us. Our topic books will help to support this learning. Some of our stories will include, "Emergency!", "Dentist Trip" and "Postman Bear".

Creative activities to further support our learning include car rolling, tooth brushing, fire collages and emergency service crafts. Other activities we will be taking part in are tumble tots, shape sorting and completing simple inset puzzles. As part of our WOW Moment, we will be having a role-play workshop come into school to visit us. This will give children the opportunity to dress up as many different job roles and use their knowledge of these to develop their imagination and pretend play!

Our Topic for Autumn 2 is “Once Upon a Time”

For our second topic of the year, we are focussing on our imagination! We will be learning all about different fairy tales such as traditional tales, mermaids, princesses, knights and dragons! Each week the children will focus on a new book about different imaginary and magical beings such as “The Gingerbread Man”, “The Singing Mermaid” and “The Dinosaur that Pooped a Princess!”.

There are lots of exciting activities planned to support your child's learning, such as, painting gingerbread men, making fairy tale collages, handprint castles and lots of Christmas crafts! The children will also have an opportunity to dress up as their favourite character when we have a Fairy Tale Day. Other activities this term will include environmental phonics tasks, learning Christmas songs, playing ball games, learning about important events such as bonfire night, Diwali and Christmas. The children will also be taking part in World Nursery Rhyme Week!

Home Learning

The Elephant Room is fun, engaging, exciting, safe and secure!

    

The children take part in a variety of activities including, singing, number time, Tumble Tots, art and crafts, painting, building, sand & water play, dressing up and much more!

   

We encourage the children to be independent, kind, resilient, polite and caring.
